George’s father, William Day, died February 1940, at Borough General Hospital, of 42, York Road, Ipswich. His mother, Norah Minnie Day, died May 1940, at 42, York Road, Ipswich.


In 1935, Ipswich, George married Frances Minnie Moss, born July 1915, Ipswich.

They had 2 sons:

Kenneth J. Day, born 1937, Ipswich.

George Edward Day, born April 1939, Ipswich.

The Battalion was attached to the 18th East Anglian Division.( including 4/5th Battalion the Suffolk Regiment)
15 February 1942: After the fall of Singapore, approximately 620 of the Battalions were taken POW and later mostly died on the Burma-Thailand Railway.
