Died: 6th September 1915; age 31; At Sea – Dardanelles – Appendicitis. Had served out in the East five/six weeks.

Employed: Clerk to the Ipswich Board of Guardians, having been in their employ since he was a boy.

Enlistment Location: Ipswich.

 

Rank: Sergeant; Service Number: 2034

Regiment: 2/1st East Anglian Field Ambulance. R.A.M.C.(T.).

In 1915, Ipswich, just before leaving for the front, Russell married Evelyn Mary Cobb, an assistant school teacher – Ipswich Council, born August 1887, Leatherhead, Surrey – daughter of Charles Hercombe Cobb, a manager’s assistant – Liverpool Victoria Insurances Officers, and Emma Cobb (nee Bolingbroke), of 2, Manby Terrace, Oxford Road, Ipswich.
