Enlistment Details: Location: Starston, Norfolk; Date; 13th October 1903; age 18 years & 3 months. Occupation: Gardener; Religion: CofE. Next of Kin: Nellie Websdell – 38, Gatacre Road, Ipswich. Height: 5ft 6 3/8 ins, fresh complexion, grey eyes & brown hair.

George gave his age as 18 years & 3 months, when in fact he was 16 years & 3 months.

George’s mother was Harriet Dinah Websdell, born 1860, Gissing, Norfolk. A Domestic Servant at the time of George’s birth. His grandmother, Harriet was present at the birth. In 1892, George’s mother, Harriet married George Wilby, born 1859, Gissing.

 

George’s grandfather, Walter Websdell died 1902, Gissing. His grandmother, Harriet Websdell died 1911, Gissing.

 

In 1908, Cosford, Suffolk, George married Nellie Paulding, born 1881, Wattisham, Suffolk. They had 2 sons:

Reginald Joseph Websdell, born March 1909, Westerfield, Suffolk.

Ronald George Websdell, born May 1911, Cosford, Suffolk.
