Frederick was 12 years old, he and his 14 year old brother, Walter were Inmates – School – Seamanship on the industrial training ship. There were 184 boys – 11 voluntary inmates & 3 recalled cases.

Frederick is also remembered on St. John the Baptist church Ipswich memorial.
