Died: 28th July 1943; age: 20; Killed on a mission to Hamburg.

Residence: 36, Orford Street, Ipswich.

Rank: Sergeant/Air Bomber; Service Number: 1336423.

Regiment: Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, 50 Squadron.

All seven bodies were originally buried in a collective grave at Geestemunde Cemetery. On the 5th November 1946, the bodies were exhumed, identified and reburied together in a collective grave at Becklingen War Cemetery.

Aircraft –  Avro Lancaster I; Serial number: R5687; Code: VN-D. Donald and his fellow crew members were on their second operation, on a mission to Hamburg. The aircraft was shot down by flak over Bremerhaven, Germany. All the crew were killed.
