Evening Star – Friday, 7th December 1917 – Mrs. Sarah Ann Kingsnorth, of 68, Newson Street, Ipswich, has been informed that her son, Bombardier Charlie Kingsnorth, of the R.H.A., was killed in action on the 1st December. Bombardier Charlie Kingsnorth went to France on the 14th August 1914, and had served continuously since. In a letter to his mother, the commander of the battery says that he was killed instantaneously, and could not have suffered at all. The officer adds: “Your son had always done well in the battery in action, and was one of my best gunlayers. He will be a great loss to me personally and to his friends in the battery.

Charlie is also remembered on the virtual Dover War Memorial and the war memorial at St. Matthew’s Church, Ipswich.
