BERTRAM EDWARD PHILLIPS

Born: 1897, Earls Barton, Northamptonshire.

Died: 4th June 1915; age 19; Died of Wounds.

Evening Star – Thursday, 17th June 1915 – News has been received of the death from wounds of No. 2969 Private Bertram Edward Phillips, of the 4th Suffolks. The deceased enlisted last December; up to that time he had been employed as a printer’s labourer at Messrs. Cowells, Ltd., Ipswich. Bertram had been out at The Front just over three months when he received the wound which resulted in his death, which occurred on the 4th June 1915. The deceased was just over 19 years of age; his parents reside at 11, Gibson Street, Ipswich.

Residence: 11, Gibson Street, Ipswich.

Occupation: Printer’s Labourer with Messrs. Cowells, Ltd., Ipswich.

Enlistment Location: Ipswich; Date: December 1914.

Date of Entry Therein: 28th February 1915 – France.
