In 1903, Ipswich, Arthur married Ada Sarjeant, a tailoress, born June 1878, Ipswich – daughter of Mary Ann Sargeant (nee Downing), of 7, Emlen Street, St. Matthew’s, Ipswich.

Ada’s absent father, Arthur John Sargeant, was of the Union Workhouse, Rushmere St. Andrew, Suffolk.

Ada and Arthur had three children:

Muriel Sidney, born November 1907, Ipswich.

Donald Arthur, born November 1916, Ipswich.

Arthur is also remembered on the war memorial at Bethesda Baptist Church, St. Margaret’s Plain, Ipswich.

LIGHTING ORDER

At the Ipswich Police Court on Thursday, 11^th November 1915, Arthur Sidney, of 8, Richmond Road, was before the Mayor of Ipswich Mr. Sydney Bland, for contravening the Lighting Order. Sidney was fined 10s. plus 1s. 3d. costs.

The Mayor said that the Bench wished people to know that they should shade interior lights so which would show outside when people entered or left the premises. Many seemed to think they had done their duty if they kept the windows and doors shaded when closed.
