  • Second lieutenant Robert Edwin Nesling has a separate war grave in the Ipswich cemetery, (no where near the official war graves) His grave is very close to where my family are buried and I noticed the time will soon be up for renewal, there is a notice up for information to family about the renewal. I wondered if the regiment got involved in these matters. It seems a shame that no one is attending the grave of one of our great fallen. The grave reads as follows: Second Lieutenant R E Nesling Kings Royal Rifle Corps. Dies 4/3/1918 aged 25. the grave reference is E3.13A and is right by the pathway. If you could shed any light on what happens next \I would be grateful if you could let me know.
    Many Thanks

  • Hello
I have been trying to track down relatives of Robert “Bob” Nesling, who was married to my grandmother (she later married my grandfather). He was actually severely wounded in the Somme and returned home to Ipswich to be nursed by my grandmother until his death. I have a few personal papers of his and would love to give them to The Society or his family for safekeeping.

Robert Nesling was my grandfather Percy’s brother. I would be very interested to make contact with Cressida.
I am currently in New Zealand and will be returning April this year.
