The Home coming of the Royal Anglian Regiment 2012

On the 5th of November 2012 The Royal Anglian Regiment (The Vikings) were given a Suffolk heroes welcome in Ipswich following several tours on active service in Afghanistan.

The Home Coming parade was used to exercise their right to The Freedom of The Entry to the Entry to the Borough of Ipswich, which had been passed down from the Anglian Regiment and Suffolk Regiment, in appreciation of the service and sacrifice of so many men who died and served.

The Mayor of Ipswich (Cllr Mary Blake) and their Major General welcomed the brave Vikings to the Cornhill.

Borough Councilors, Suffolk Civic representatives, Veterans, Veteran Associations and thousands of members of the public watched and cheered them on.

Following and inspection and parade, the 250 strong cohort paraded out of the Cornhill and out around the Town Centre then back to the Town Hall for one or two beers!
