Sydney is remembered on the war memorial at the Churchyard of St Peter & St Paul Parish Church, Wangford cum Henham, Suffolk.

September 1939: Devonport. 8th Infantry Brigade, 3rd Division.
October 1939:France.
May/June 1940: The Battalion were evacuated from Dunkirk and returned to the UK.
