St Margaret’s Church WW1 Memorial Ipswich

St. Margaret’s Church Ipswich
There was a crowded congregation at St. Margaret’s Church, on the
afternoon of Friday, 11th November 1921, Armistice Day.
The war memorial in memory of the men of the parish who fell in the
Great War was unveiled by Major Raymond Northland Revell Read, of Sutton
Manor. The Rev. Canon Henry Drummond Williamson conducted the service
with the Lord Bishop of the Diocese Dr. David.
The war memorial itself is made from Portland Stone, placed on the West
wall, just inside the South door. The tablet is surmounted by the Royal
Arms and Crown, pierced by a sword. The work carried out by Mr. Ernest
Edmonds Saunders, to the design of Mr. Henry Munro Cautley, both of Ipswich.
