RUSSELL CHARLES W. DALE

Born: 9th December 1890, Ipswich.

Died: 13th December 1917; age 26; Died of Wounds received on the 1st December in the attack on Gonnelieu.

Enlistment Location: London; Date: November 1915.

 

Appointed Lance Corporal before being sent to France with the Grenadier Guards, 1st Battalion, on the 31st August 1916.

 

Russel was wounded – gunshot to his left leg, on the 29th September, being evacuated to England on 3rd October. He was again sent back to the 1st Battalion on operations in France on the 14th February 1917.

 

Promoted to Corporal and then to Lance Sergeant in August 1917.

 

Rank: Corporal; Service Number: 24711

Regiment: Grenadier Guards, 1st Battalion.

 

Medals Awarded: Victory & British War.

In 1916, Northampton, Northamptonshire, Russell married, Emily Kathleen Holton, born 1892, Northampton, Northamptonshire.

They had 1 daughter:

Emily Kathleen R. Dale, born 1917, Northampton, Northamptonshire.
