Born: Christmas Day, 1907, Shahjahanpur, Bengal, India.

Baptised: 16th January 1908, at Shahjahanpur, Bengal, India. Parents: Harriet Ann & Ernest Alfred Roper – a Sergeant for the 2nd Battalion of The Rifle Brigade.

Died: 27th April 1941; age: 33; as a result of an explosion of mine.

Robert was the only fatality.

Residence: 59, Belle Vue Road, Ipswich.

Enlistment Location: Chatham; Occupation: Carpenter’s Mate. Height: 5ft 8 1/2ins, fresh complexion, blue eyes & brown hair. Scars on both knees.

In 1930, Ipswich, Robert married Kathleen Ruby Crane, born June 1910, Ipswich.

They had 1 daughter:

Jill Kathleen Anne Roper, born June 1938, Ipswich.
