Aircraft: Lancaster B Mark II; Serial number: DS 652; Code: KO-B. Took off from RAF East Wreatham, Norfolk at 00:02 hrs, on a bombing mission to Bochum, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is believed the Lancaster was shot down on the way home off the Dutch island of Texel, by a Bf 110G, a German night fighter of 11./NJG.
By the end of June three bodies of the seven man crew had washed ashore.
