JACK SAMUEL PECK

Jack is not remembered on the war memorial at Christchurch Park.

 

Born: 1911, Ipswich.

Died: 18th August 1943; age 31; Japanese PoW – Thailand – Burma railway.

Residence: Ipswich.

Captured: 15th February 1942.

 

Rank: Private; Service Number: 5827463.

Regiment: Suffolk Regiment, 5th Battalion.

Father: Samuel Peck, born 1865, Kettleburgh, Norfolk – died 1942, Ipswich.

Mother: Ann Maria Peck (nee Mansfield), born 1866, Norwich, Norfolk.

 

In 1937, Ipswich, Jack married Ada E. Abbott.

4th and 5th Battalions:
The Battalions were attached to the 18th East Anglian Division.
15 February 1942: After the fall of Singapore, approximately 620 of the Battalions were taken POW and later mostly died on the Burma-Thailand Railway.
