Died: 6th June 1944; age: 22; KiA.

52, Wimpole Road is still a Doctor’s Surgery.
Rank: Lieutenant; Service Number: EC/4579.
Regiment: Indian Army, 10th Baluchi Regiment, 3rd Battalion.
In March 1945, the body was discovered, exhumed and identified from the Cross marking the grave, uniform and badge of rank. No documents were found on the body. On the 7th March 1944, the body was re-buried at Moro River Canadian War Cemetery.

In 1941, Colchester, Essex, Hugh married Joan Charlotte Christine Hawkins, born June 1917, Romford, Essex – daughter of Ralph Burton Hawkins, and Mabel Gertrude Hawkins (nee Bell), of Creffield Road, Colchester.
Hugh was educated at Ipswich School – left the school in 1939.
Probate to Joan Charlotte Christine Lumsden – widow, wife of John Michael Arthur Lumsden.
Hugh is also remembered on the Ipswich School Chapel war memorial.
