Herbert is remembered on the Ransomes, Sims & Jefferies, Orwell Works war memorial. Now sited at The Museum of East Anglian Life.

 

Born: 14th May 1879, Gosbeck, Suffolk.

Died: 2nd November 1914; age 35; KiA at Messines.

Enlistment Location: Ipswich; Date: 5th October 1898.

Date of Entry Therein: 30th August 1914.

 

Rank: Sergeant; Service Number: 7001.

Regiment: Lancashire Fusiliers, 2nd Battalion.

Formerly 5218, Suffolk Regiment.

 

Medals Awarded: Victory, British War & 1914 Star + Clasp.

 

Relatives Notified & Address: Son of Harry Pallant, of Ipswich; husband of Helen Pallant, of 38, Newton Street, Ipswich.

Herbert’s mother, Hannah Pallant died 1882, Ashbocking, Suffolk.

 

On the 3rd June 1906, at Ipswich, Herbert married Helen Cunningham, born 1883, Diss, Norfolk. They had 1 son.
