During the war years Alexandria and Muriel lived with her brother John Duncan, at his family home – 42, Mount Street, Shawlands, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. John was an Artist and Cartoonist.

Herbert is also remembered on the war memorial at St. Clement’s Church , Ipswich.
