Regiment: Royal Artillery, 49 Battery, 48 Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment.

Harold’s father was Joseph Gissing, born 1886, Friston, Suffolk. On the 1911 census Joseph was 27 years old, a Bricklayer for a Builder at Chantry Road, Saxmundham, Suffolk.


On the 24th December 1933, Ipswich, Harold married Vera Alice May Adams, born 1916, Ipswich – daughter of Frederick Adams, a maltster, and Ada Sarah Warden, of Ipswich.

They had 3 children.



Harold was a House Decorator. He was living with his mother Edith at her home – 5, Charles Street, Ipswich.

Harold’s wife, Vera and their children were living at their family home – 60, Pauline Street, Ipswich.
