FREDERICK COBB

Born: 1867, St. Matthew’s, Ipswich.

Died: 15th September 1920; age: 52; died of Progressive Muscular Atrophy and Respiratory Failure, at the National Hospital, Queen Square, Holborn, Middlesex.

Informant – son-in-law Francis David Midlane (husband of daughter Elsie Pauline Cobb), of 18, St. John’s Terrace, Enfield, Middlesex.

Frederick belonged to the National Reserve and enlisted at Ipswich, on the 14th October 1914, age 47 years & 1 month. He was posted on the 14th October 1914, to the 4th Battalion of the Suffolk Regiment – Home Service.

Transferred to the Royal Defence Corps, as a Private, 28810, on the 29th April 1916 – No. 100 Protection Corps.

Posted to the No. 661 Coy – 31st March 1917

Posted No. 55 Coy – 3rd November 1917.

Discharged on Demobilisation – 5th March 1919, aged 52 years of age – disability 20% Rheumatism, aggravated by war service.
