DAVID ELDRIDGE

Born: 1918, Hartismere, Suffolk.

Died: 21st May 1940; Age 22; died at North Walsham Cottage Hospital, North Walsham, Norfolk – from injuries caused by an accidental collision on the previous day between the motor-bicycle which he was riding and a motor lorry proceeding in the opposite direction at an S bend on the Aylsham – North Walsham high road.

Inquest held – 21st May 1940.

Rank: Second Lieutenant; Service Number: 76814.

David and his father, John, a Schoolmaster were living at the family home – 68, Finborough Road, Stowmarket, Suffolk.

His mother, Elsie was living at 52, Hestercombe Avenue, Fulham, London, with his brother.

Richard Henry Eldridge, an Assistant Meteorological Officer – Air Ministry, born June 1921.

 

Probate to Frederick John Pay Eldridge – father.

 

David is also remembered on Chapel war memorial at Ipswich School.
