Born: 1893, Ipswich.

Died: 1st October 1917; age: 23; KiA by a shell.

Residence: 10, Crouch Road, Colchester.

Date of Entry Therein: 28th July 1915 – France.

 

Rank: Corporal; Service Number: 88211.

Regiment: Royal Field Artillery, ‘B’ Battery, 83rd Brigade.

Medals Awarded: Victory, British War and 1915 Star.

Relatives Notified and Address: Eldest son of Ernest Mason & Bertha Mason, of 10, crouch Street, Colchester, Essex.

The shell also killed 37 year old Walter Cambers, a Gunner, service number 82380, of the Royal Field Artillery, ‘B’ Battery, 83rd Brigade. Walter was born in Cople, Bedfordshire, the son of Charles Cambers, a farm labourer and Sarah Cambers (nee Minney), of Ampthill. Walter was married in 1902, to Beatrice Deborah Cambers (nee Marshall), they had four sons and made their home at 13, Cobden Street, Bedford.

Conrad’s father, Ernest Nathan Mason died in April 1914, Colchester.

 

Conrad was educated at Colchester Royal Grammar School.
