Leopold joined the Suffolks in 1916, training at Felixstowe, afterwards being transferred to the King’s Liverpool Regiment.

Leopold’s mother, Ada Raphael in 1901 was living at 41, Cherry Orchard, Kidderminster, Worcestershire. She was 39, a widow and a Teacher of Music. Leopold’s brother Rueben, lives with their mother.

Leopold’s father Barnard Raphael, died 1908, Ipswich.

 

In 1912, Ipswich, Leopold married Jessie Larking, born 1889, Helmingham, Suffolk – died 1924, Ipswich – T.B.

They had 1 son:

Leo Leslie Raphael, born July 1914, Ipswich.

 

Leopold is also remembered on the war memorial at St. Margaret’s Church, Ipswich.
