Died: 21st February 1942/1st March 1942; Age: 32; KiA at Kalidjati Airfield, Java, Dutch East Indies.

Residence: Ipswich.

Rank: Gunner; Service Number: 1653703.

Regiment: Royal Artillery, 49 Battery, 48 Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment.

 

Buried with 57 comrades in a mass grave.

Harold’s father was Joseph Gissing, born 1886, Friston, Suffolk. On the 1911 census Joseph was 27 years old, a Bricklayer for a Builder at Chantry Road, Saxmundham, Suffolk.

 

On the 24th December 1933, Ipswich, Harold married Vera Alice May Adams, born 1916, Ipswich. They had 3 children.
